We live in Edinburgh and are part of the national City of Sanctuary network. City of Sanctuary aims to grow a culture of welcome for people seeking sanctuary in cities across the UK.
We want to connect the many threads of activity already happening in Edinburgh to welcome asylum seekers and refugees, and to widen the scope of this welcome to include all areas of life in our city.
To do this we built an online guide to places and initiatives across Edinburgh that provide welcome and support for refugees and asylum seekers: a free, public and interactive resource based on the data gathered during our community mapping event in November 2016. We are now reconsidering this guide in the light of changes brought by the Covid-19 pandemic.
Edinburgh is famous for its many universities; we are pleased to have accredited the University of Edinburgh as a University of Sanctuary, part of a growing network across the UK and beyond.
